Hotels Appledore

Durrant House Hotel

Heywood Rd, Northam, Bideford EX39 3QB, UK – 01237 472361

I only go to R@R, which is the beauty and hair place on the first floor. Any one can book up and have a massage or your nails done. Or a fake tan or even a real one. The girls are lovely and so helpful. I book for a massage as often as I can. They have quite a range of beauty treatments. The place is very elegant and u feel really comfortable there. Really recommend it. But can get busy.

Great staff, nothing too much trouble. Hotel decor a little tired. The bathroom I had was in need of work - cracked tiles grab handles on bath broken off. But had a great stay and was looked after very well. If fixtures and fittings had been better it would have been 5 stars.

Premier Inn

Clovelly Rd, Bideford EX39 3QU, UK – 0871 527 9564

Brand new place. Was going to stay in Barnstaple until I found there was no air con. Not usually a problem in England but a must have at the moment. There's the usual Brewers Wharf in a separate building and a McDonald's and Starbucks on the site. Would definitely recommend.

🛏 A standard Premier Inn, you generally know what you are getting with a Premier Inn. Rooms may be slightly larger than average. Still relatively new, and was definitely needed.

Yeoldon House Hotel

Durrant Lane, Northam, Bideford EX39 2RL, UK – 01237 474400

Lovely hotel and location and very friendly staff. Only comment is that they state they are dog friendly and charge £15 per night per dog but dogs are not allowed in the dining room for breakfast. However you are told that dogs can't be left in the room alone, they have to be tied up outside the hotel or left in your car while you have breakfast. This was not an option for us as our dog is extremely anxious so we would not leave him outside and also as summer time it was too hot to leave him in the car. We ended up going to breakfast separately so it was not a particularly enjoyable experience. The problem could have been easily resolved by having a couple of tables set up in the bar as dogs were allowed in here. This is what usually happens at dog friendly hotels.

From first arriving the approach the gardens and the house a real retreat. The owners and staff are all extremely accommodating, friendly and professional. The rooms are well furnished and we'll equipped. Clean and modern bathrooms. Breakfast is a clean English breakfast there are also more options but all quality ingredients. We would certainly return a huge positive for us is that it is a high quality hotel that allows dogs. offers competitive rates for any type of hotel, from small independent hotels to a five star luxury ones. The site is available in 24 languages and offers over 71000 hotels in 71 countries. Could be useful for you. There are of course several such sites.

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!

Appledore Pubs, Gastro Pubs and Bars

The Pig On The Hill

Pusehill Rd, Westward Ho!, Bideford EX39 5AH, UK – 01237 459222

A lovely afternoon lunch with my wife in the sunshine. Enormously pleasant table service, two tasty starters (generous portions) and two cracking main meals (again, generous portions). Had been here one evening earlier in the year for a beer and had wanted to return for food. Glad that we did. Plenty of space inside and out for families with small people in toe. Also worth trying their local brew 😉

Party of 4 for Sunday Lunch. Excellent food and atmosphere. Service friendly, despite being very busy. LIked the pork scratchings starter. Good variety of roasts. Cost was £60-70. Excellent value given the quality on offer.

The Crealock Arms

Littleham, Bideford EX39 5HN, UK – 01237 477065

We found this gem of a pub when looking for somewhere to eat near to where we are staying in Fairy Cross. Amazing food, five star service, great friendly atmosphere, lovely locals, top chef. Nothing is too much trouble and Michelle and Claire will make you feel so welcome. Been twice in 4 days and going back before we go home. Well done Crealock Arms - you rock!

🍺 A lovely pub in the countryside well away from everything. Good food and drink and a lovely beer garden. Far better than it's rival pub The Crealock Legs...

The Thatched Inn

Pump Ln, Abbotsham, Bideford EX39 5BA, UK – 01237 471321

We booked a table for 9 of us earlier in the week. The pub is welcoming and friendly and there are larger, newer dinning rooms out the back. Guess they utilised their carpark to do this. Hence parking would have to be on the nearby residential streets if you don't walk there. They have also made alfresco dinning possible, with covered timber booths outside. We we're met at our table by a friendly and charming waiter, who looked after us so well during our meal. He had a good memory for ordered items and had good attention to detail. All of our party felt relaxed and liked him. The food was brilliant, a great choice including seafood. Hence great starters, mains, kids meals and desserts. No problem sharing any of starters or desserts. We would definitely go back.

Awesome place and the food is great and so are the staff. Could not have asked for a better meal out with family. Clean and very spacious.

Devon Holiday Cottage - Slade Cottage

Slade Cottage, Slade, Bideford EX39 3LZ, UK

Excellent cottage 🏠 👍 we were VERY impressed with the space and location of this place. Not too far from anywhere and a short drive or cycle ride to the local shops. Super markets deliver here so you can order your shopping prior to arrival. Washing machine, tumble drier & washing line are provided should you wish to use them. Parking for about 3 cars and gas central heating, should you need to use it. Plenty of kitchenware and a family dining table. I would definitely stay here again as the children loved it. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Very nice cottage

We have just returned from a week in the Annex - WOW, WOW, WOW what a fabulous place to spend a week visiting all the local North Devon attractions. The annex is superbly equipped and I am sure if there is anything you required, the owners would gladly assist. Appledore Campsites and Caravan Parks

Braddicks Holiday Centre - Holiday Park North Devon

Merley Rd, Westward Ho!, Bideford EX39 1JU, UK – 01237 473263

Been here two years in a row, we stayed in the pet friendly accommodation which is superbly kitted out and in a brilliant location for stunning views of the sunset. I would suggest bringing your own towels and tea towels as it is essentially self catering. The pier house offers wonderful food and the main bar and outside deck is dog friendly. There is no WiFi in the caravans for those with older children, but we found we were out and about so much that it didn't really matter.

We had a wonderful holiday in a spotless caravan at Braddock's. The pier house was our destination most evenings to enjoy the sea views on the balcony while drinking Tribute and the speciality Gins. The staff were smartly dressed and polite. Great base for exploring north Devon and north Cornwall.

Beachside Holiday Park

Merley Rd, Westward Ho!, Bideford EX39 1JX, UK – 01237 421163

A small, personal style site, not crowded and as close to the sea as you can get. Everywhere is within easy walking distance and Westward Ho! has kept its old-style charm without getting 'dated'. Good restaurants nearby and one of the best beaches in the UK. Visit this place yearly and it just gets better. Vans are replaced on a regular basis but the prices are still excellent.

Been here a for few years now and always had a lovely time. The caravans are excellent value for money and within a stones throw of the beach. The site is child friendly and very quiet. Makes for a great little getaway.

Westacott Farm Camping

Westacott Farm, Abbotsham, Bideford EX39 5BN, UK – 01237 472351

Nice secluded campsite with very friendly owners. Well spaced pitches, though no separation. Wash blocks are a little dated. You can buy fresh eggs and bacon from the owners, as well as massive fire cage that comes with kindling and wood. Lovely villages and towns close by, and of course lots of beaches.

A slice of heaven in Devon. The weather may not always be perfect, but there is no where I would rather be. The Trewin family are always so welcoming. Always look forward to going back. It's our second home 😄
